Why we need to stick
Michael Ware gives the most credible argument I have ever seen on a national TV program for why we need to stay. And why we should trust soldiers on the ground more than any fuckin' politician or politician activist or columnist any fuckin' day of the fuckin' week.
All I have to say after this election is, fuck the Democratic and Republican parties. Those asswipes can suck my fuckin' balls until they learn to demonstrate 1/1000th of the courage of the men and women they send in harms way.
Too hard to stand up for my and their freedom? Fuck you, you cowardly pieces of shit.
Go fuck yourselves with your bellyaching about your goddamn careers.
And, Hillary Clinton, there is a special place in hell for cowards like you. These folks can't question orders. Your job is to question orders, you coward. You just thought it was more important to have the power than the responsibility. And fuck you for your cynicism and your cowardice.
I'm well aware that it's more complicated that all that. Political pressure and yada, yada, yada. You don't like political pressure? Try suicide bombing. Or having the heads of children sent back to you in coolers. Try that political pressure on for size.
What the fuck do you think terrorism and such brutality is all about, you brainless fuckin' cowards? Advancing the radical, progressive agenda of Palestinian statehood. Yeah, you would believe that, you fuckin' ninnies.
What the fuck did you get those Ivy League educations for? To brag to your friends about how tough your life was to get that piece of paper?
Try standing between some semblance of order and fuckin' chaos and endless bloodletting, you fuckin' pussies.
Grow some fucking balls and get honest with America and what needs to be done in this war.
And stop letting people like Michael Ware and those soldiers he's representing for, here, out to fucking dry.

this is why the whole thing is so sad to me...
ware and others might be 100% right. let's say they are for a second.
that means we have to stay and we have to stay big. it might take a long time, too.
who is ready to do that? well, unfortunately, the people who made the series of shitty decisions who got us there in the first place.
thus, we are now forced to decide between the idiots who want to act foolishly today and those who have a track record of creating foolish circumstances in the first place.
wouldn't it be nice if there was SOMEONE out there who was BOTH (a) smart enough to have not fucked up originally and (b) smart enough to understand the best way to deal with the situation as it sits now?
because I don't like the idea of putting the pro-pullout people in charge AND I don't like the idea of rewarding the people who seem to have the right idea now, but only after setting the stage for the current fuckuppery.
to make matters worse, the ones who really spearheaded the ill-prepared invasion and disastrous post-invasion strategy (pre-surge at the very least and, on can argue, for awhile thereafter) have an added problem in the trust department with me and a lot of other people.
remember the bullshit we were sold on in the first place re: iraq? take the actual horrible results and put them aside for a moment and recall the mutating and disingenuous sales pitch.
they have wmd's and they'll use 'em on us. there is an operational linkage between saddam and bin laden. it will be quick and easy. they'll greet us with flowers. the occupation won't be tough. the war will pay for itself.
that was just the first part. then it was all about toppling saddam and bringing freedom to the iraqis. remember those purple election thumbs? we're almost done! the resistance is in its death throes. etc.
the bullshit stories and the constantly warping sales pitch was grotesque. none of them had the nuts to sell the war for what it was -- good or bad. instead, they managed to get it done by sugar-coating and fibbing at every turn.
now, the only people who seem to have a clue about what to do with the mess are the very same people who lied their asses off--or at the very least misrepresented their intentions and reasons. plus, they were either really telling whoppers or they horribly underestimated the nature of our necessary commitment.
the dems who want us out asap might be silly as shit, but the folks who want to hold the line in iraq are historically proven to be sleazy, lying asswipes. that's a crappy choice.
i vaguely trust the dems to fuck things up. i certainly trust the reps to lie to me. either way, doom.
i'd probably be a lot more pro-war if the story underlying the justification for action and a little humility about foolish decisions was out there for me to see. instead, i get an overload of sleazy macho from the hawks that is at least as distasteful as the nonsense i get from the doves.
personally, i don't want either bunch in charge of making the decision.
reminds me of earlier in the process... before it was just hill vs. barry. there was one guy up there who recognized how fucked up the war had been but who was NOT arguing that he could automatically get the troops home in a few minutes via executive order or something. joe biden.
now, you can argue that joe's approach was wrong for several reasons, but at least there was some reality in there. at least he wasn't just trying to make the problem go away by getting out. at least he wasn't pretending like the war was hunky dory and that we did things the right way.
it's a tough situation. someone is going to take charge of a big freaking mess that probably didn't need to exist in the first place. it's a mess that could have been avoided--or at least could have happened honestly.
but it didn't. and now we have to pick between the asses we know who finally seem to have their shit together and the asses we don't who seem to be silly but don't have the same track record of incompetence.
long rambling response... and i haven't even started talking about the bullshit with iran that's coming up soon and that could end up being even messier.
