Andrew Sullivan on Michael Jackson...
I've been talking with friends and folks about Michael Jackson's trial...and I'll post on it soon:):):)...
In the meantime:):):)...
Andrew Sullivan writes a BRILLIANT piece on the matter:):):)...
Andrew Sullivan on Michael Jackson
I agree with much that Andrew says...EXCEPT two important things...
First...that people weren't interested...MOST of the people I talked with, really, were very and sometimes MORE interested in this story than most really important news stories these days:)...and their opinions are REALLY VARIED, I think, as someone who's talked with a lot of different folks about Michael...
Second...that blacks do not/did not support Michael...I think while many socially conservative blacks may have pulled away from Michael...my experience was that MANY BLACKS -- and many whites and folks of other ethnicities, for that matter -- supported Michael...in fact, in many ways, I think Michael was MUCH MORE SUPPORTED by both blacks, his fans, and the music industry than could comparably said of O.J. Simpson, as Andrew argues...
All of my thoughts, here, though, are based on anecdotal experiences of talking with people and not on any broader or more statistically sophisticated surveying...so I may very well be wrong, as I OFTEN AM:):):):):):)...
I want to repeat for ANYONE who might know or read me:):):):):):)...who is concerned that I might not readily admit this as often or as quickly as I need to (INCLUDING AND ESPECIALLY MY MOST PERSISTENT CRITIC -- though fairest, too, I think, generally:):) -- ME:):):):):):):)...
Other than these concerns...
Andrew writes a VERY IMPRESSIVE analysis of humanity via Michael Jackson that I think EVERYONE would benefit from reading:):):):):):)...
Have a great day, everyone:):):):):):)...
Love,
Ben
