Learning
Do you know what the amazing thing about life is?
Your teachers were right. It is the learning that matters:).

My too often nonsensical and forever unenlightened reflections on people and life and everything else I understand as well as I understand everything else. Not well at all, in other words. Love thy neighbor, is my motto. Unless something better comes along. Make sure to say so when you find it.

A world of repression is a world of lying. To ourselves and to one another. But especially to ourselves.
Repression means hurting people to get your way. And the hurt results in people lying to themselves and one another about who they really are.
The sad paradox and self-fulfilling prophecy is that the hurt leads to the lying leads the cynicism leads to the pain unresolved leads to the hurt leads to the lying leads to the cynicism leads to the pain unresolved leads to the hurt, etc., etc., etc.
The only way out of this cycle, the only real way forward, the only genuine progress is to end the repression and the hurt and the lying and the cynicism and the pain unresolved.
And the only way to end that cycle is to end the hurt.

Ben

All we can be is ourselves, and learn and grow.
Our biggest problems in the world come from our propensity to bully instead of coming terms with this fact of life.
I never want to get used to bullying. No matter who it's coming from.
It shortcircuits and interferes with learning, which is the only path to where we need to go in life and and it's the only path to life, period, as a matter of fact more than a matter of aphorism.
And it perpetually makes my life miserable in the meantime, though it becomes easier, in one respect, as I lose respect for the people who do it to me or others.
I think I'm beginning to understand why adults say they like a nice kid. Because they're easier to bully.
Adults lie when they say they don't tolerate bullies. The truth is they don't tolerate other bullies. It cuts into their action. And that is a truth independent of ideology, religion, nationality, gender, race, ethnicity and definitely level of education.
It'd be nice to have world where bullying wasn't the accepted means of changing situations you don't like. Come to think of it, it would be the most important change we could make.
Love,
Ben
