Music they can look up to

When you get a second, you might take a moment, give this song a listen.

I'll be singing this to my wife at my wedding, I think. My cousin Luke and I are practicing it, right now.

Sums up a happy life about as well as I've ever heard.

Everything else is gravy.

Only thing that'd make me happier is being the guy who wrote those lyrics. But I'll take being the guy who gets to listen to 'em, just the same.

That's what I want for my kids.

Music they can look up to.

Maybe they might settle for a father of that variety instead. Plenty of road on that journey.

What a great guy to have along for the ride.

The problem with this world

Yeah. Problem in Washington, and everywhere, really, is too much thinkin', not enough action.

Too much freedom. Not enough fear. Too much understanding. Not enough whoopass. Too much love. Not enough, "Fuck you, neighbor."

Too much Jesus. Not enough nails.

Problem with the world, you see, is too much goodness. Not enough of the rest.

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up, really.

We're just too good, is the truth. Always have been. Hence all the pain. And grief. And tragedy.

Reason we're all hurting so is we're all just too good, you see. Too loving. Too decent. Too much whatever to soothe the ego.

Either that or perhaps we could get a little more honest with ourselves. Something tells me the latter is where real happiness is at. Where I come from, at least.

But you do as you like. It is your life, after all.

Choose well. Or don't. Whatever suits your fancy.

And live with that life.

Either way, pick up from there. I'll love you just the same, at least. Pinkie promise. Swear to God, hope to die.
