A beer and some mutual idealism...
Today was one of those days...kids and teachers, both, tested my patience, today, more than I've ever had it tested at Eisenhower, yet...
My first two hours went brilliantly...I don't think those kids have ever been as on task and respectful as today...third and fourth hour with Ms. Budt went smoothly...
And then it was all downhill after that...
Teachers convinced that they're going to win futile battles to "make" kids behave...losing all the way...and not enough presence of mind, I suppose, to notice that something's not right...
And a couple of kids who are in an after school learning situation until their behavior can get under control...were the worst behaved I've seen Eisenhower students be in the entire time I've been here...
This is the time for a beer and some idealism...
When Brandi and I were in D.C...we'd be exhausted after long days at B'nai Brith or wherever we might be working, at that time...
And we'd go out for lunch in the park in downtown D.C...which is beautiful, if you get the chance:):)...
And go out for happy hours after work...Brandi could never skip a bargain:):):)...and happy hours combined two of her favorite loves:):):):)...alcohol...and bargain-shopping:):):)...
And lots of talking:):):)...purposeful, fun, high-minded talk...over beer and appetizers...the pay we made was not great, of course...
But the spirit of mutual idealism more than made up for its weight in salary...
I need a beer...and someone to pump me up after a long day at school...
I'm gonna go see what I can do:)...
Love,
Ben
